Considered one of the best poker players in the world, Phil Ivey has decided to boycott the World Series of Poker this year. His main sponsor, Full Tilt Poker, has so far failed to reimburse online player poker accounts when all US poker accounts were frozen due to the federal online poker sting. “I am deeply disappointed and embarrassed that Full Tilt players have not been paid money they are owed. I am equally embarrassed that as a result many players cannot compete in tournaments and have suffered economic harm,” Ivey said on his website. Phil is doing everything he can to help out online players that have supported him over time as he is suing to try to expedite payments to players.
It really is bitter sweet as it is a sigh of relief for anyone playing in the WSOP this year, but we don’t get to witness one of the greatest at the top of his game.
